Trump and the Billionaires

Join Richard Wolff on The Socialist Program as they explore the impact of billionaires like Elon Musk endorsing and financially supporting political campaigns, such as Trump's, with a focus on the changing economic landscape and the tensions between old and new capitalists. They discuss the historical pattern of capitalism that shifts based on profitability, causing conflicts within capitalist groups who seek different government interventions in their favor. The conversation delves into how current political tendencies, like proposing extreme tariffs against China, signify a declining American empire unwilling to adapt to a changing global dynamic. Wolff argues that the U.S. lacks genuine representation for the working class, with both Democrats and Republicans maintaining a system that benefits the wealthy elite at the expense of the majority. The interview concludes by emphasizing the urgent need for the U.S. to acknowledge its declining status and to cooperatively engage with emerging global powers for a sustainable future.

It is a wake-up call for all of us to stay informed, engaged, and committed to the pursuit of a more equitable and sustainable economic and political system.

A socialist based peoples authoritarian government is unfortunately the only system that can impact american politics. What happened in England would never happen here, Sanders would sooner be elected overseas before he is here, and our problems with uncontrolled capitalism will be continuously aired on shows like these forever in the future. As for the people of america being the new market trough for the new Chinese oligarchs to feed on, OR we become their new war victims? I am afraid I do not agree with this. A book once sponsored on Economic Update called the “The End of the Mega Machine” explains why we must scale down this global factory which exploits resources faster and more efficiently for global oligarchs who feed on INCREASING dependent populations who cannot develop their own territories for their needs and increasingly depend on foreign supplies.

During the RNC the teamsters president made a speech regarding workers rights receiving aa half hearted and confused applause, Trump looked like a deer in the headlights. The Washington Post broke a story of how he needs the Unions but promised industry that he would eliminate their influence if elected. he champions bringing jobs back to america while accepting 45 million dollars a month from Musk who operates the largest US company in China, a company which realistically now belongs to China.
