This situation is as old as capitalism. Businesses - and especially big ones like ATT, etc. - obtain govt supports (tax breaks, subsidies, etc.) by funding parties and politicians. The Tenessee example one of thousands every year at federal, state and local levels. Its not "crony capitalism" its just plain capitalism that has always worked in that way much of the time.
