Professor Wolff, Even if the United States and other industrialized countries were able to transition to 100% renewable energy, it seems that having an economy that must grow to sustain itself is ultimately unsustainable. What are the root factors in American Capitalism that necessitate or motivate growth? Is it possible to have an economy that does not grow, or even shrinks, without mass-unemployment and suffering?
