Richard Wolff Speaks at All Souls Church - "The Costs of Capitalism's Crisis: Who Will Pay?"

January 24, 2012 - 18:30
Location:
Reidy Friendship Hall of All Souls Church, 1157 Lexington Avenue, between 79th and 80th streets, New York, New York

Since 2009, the US economy displays enduring high unemployment, record home foreclosures, stagnant and falling wages, shrinking job benefits, and cut-backs in public services. Meanwhile corporate profits and stock markets have rebounded from their crisis lows. The gap between rich and poor - itself one cause of the crisis - has been worsened by that crisis. This evening's talk will offer explanations of (1) how and why the costs of capitalism's crisis are being imposed onto the mass of people, and (2) what can be done to stop it.

The event will be co-sponsored by several groups, including Resistance Cinema, Lifelines, Peace and Justice Task Force, Community Church NYC, Action for Justice, as well as being hosted by the All Souls Church. A modest buffet will be served at approximately 6:30PM with light refreshments followed by the beginning of the event at approximately 7:00PM. There is no admission charge but baskets for donations will be placed throughout.
