February Monthly Update on ForaTV

This month, I am testing a trial partnership with ForaTV to disseminate widely the Monthly Economic Update I prepare. Fora TV charges $5.95. For three years, all my interviews, articles, lectures, blogs, podcasts and radio programs have been free. Most will continue to be.

However, because my team of four devote much time and effort to arrange, tape, process, and post each item to reach the maximum number of people, they need some remuneration. They are doing a terrific job, but I can no longer cover their costs out of my own limited pockets.

We are also building another website and project around the concept of Democracy at Work. We will be announcing that to all of you within a few weeks. That project aims to generate, inform, advise, and sustain democratically reorganized enterprises in partnerships with democratically organized communities. We seek to encourage, support and inform a social movement around a campaign for economic democracy.

As our reach and range of activities mount, our costs do too. We are approaching foundations for grants, but until we obtain sufficient outside funding we need also to ask some help from our viewers.

We reached out to ForaTV because their site’s terrific lectures reach many thousands. Our plan is to charge for one piece of content each month to enable us to offer more free content. Attendees at my live Monthly Economic Updates have always paid fees (100% go to the Brecht Forum in New York that hosts them).

We are also excited about the opportunity of working with ForaTV as it brings these concepts and this education to more people than visitors to my website.

We understand that you may be disappointed that the Monthly Economic Update is not free during this month’s test. Please email Jen at jhill@rdwolff.com with your comments and/or if you would like a coupon code to view February’s Monthly Economic Update on ForaTV without charge.

Sincerely,
- Richard D. Wolff

FORA.tv Presents Leading Economist Richard D. Wolff in Monthly Economic Update Video Series

FORA.tv debuts the monthly series with the February 2012 Monthly Update, with leading economist Richard D. Wolff examining recent events and trends that shape the current global economy

FORA.tv, the leading online destination for video programs from the world's best conferences and events, is proud to present leading economist and professor Richard D. Wolff in a monthly series that will tackle the evolving global capitalist economic crisis and its consequences. Well-known for his work on economic methodology and class analysis, each month Professor Wolff focuses on current events and of-the-moment trends that are shaping the global economy, and aims to develop the audience’s understanding of and ability to articulate the key economic developments of our time.

Filmed monthly at the Brecht Forum in New York, this economic series debuts on FORA.tv with the February 2012 Monthly Update. For February, Professor Wolff examines topics such as the continuing US housing and credit markets; the national debt crisis and “austerity program” in Greece; and tax reform and the entire tax issue in the U.S. today. With his brilliant and witty style, Professor Wolff delivers each topic in a simple and intuitive narrative that ties the events of the past and present to the situation at hand, making the most complicated economic entanglements easy to comprehend.

The February 2012 Monthly Update is available to purchase on FORA.tv here.
