Advanced & Applied Marxian Economics - 4 Session Course
This will be an intensive seminar in Marxian economics designed for those who already have a basic knowledge, drawn from Marx’s Capital, of most of the following topics: the labor theory of value, the theory of surplus value, and theories of profit, capital accumulation, circuits of capital, relations among industrial, financial and merchant capitals, and differences among feudal, capitalist and other different class structures. The two chief purposes of the seminar are (1) to discuss Marxian economic theory as a whole (including some criticisms of it), and (2) to apply it to urgent current economic and political issues.
The classes will run for four consecutive Tuesdays, July 20 and 27, and August 3 and 10.
